"Friends," a '90s sitcom, was a staple in our household growing up. Back then, we had to wait one full week to catch the next episode of our favorite shows. Streaming services are an invention I am thankful for, because over the years, I've kept watching the "Friends" show on repeat.
It remains my go-to show whenever I want to watch something passively or when getting chores done. And with each rewatch, I end up discovering something I hadn't noticed before.
Let's get right to the reason why I'm writing this article—where are the cast members of "Friends," the TV show, now?
A few SPOILERS are included, in case you haven't watched the show "Friends" yet.
Where Are These Cast Members Now?
The show "Friends" was a trailblazing sitcom that remains evergreen in so many ways. Conversations with "Friends" TV show quotes are staples at most millennial hangouts.
"Hello Friends" (1999) and "Mad Love" (2011) are TV shows like "Friends" said to have been inspired by the sitcom. "Friends TV show logo," "Friends TV show font," and "Friends TV show gifts" are also popular search engine terms.
"Friends" centered on six main characters, including Ross Geller, Rachel Green, Monica Geller, Joey Tribbiani, Chandler Bing, and Phoebe Buffay.
David Schwimmer as Ross Geller
Ross Geller, a paleontologist, is by all accounts the most intelligent member of the group of friends. He's goofy, lovable, and madly in love with Rachel Green. In fact, TV Guide included Ross and Rachel on their list of the "best TV couples of all time."
Schwimmer's first leading role in a silver screen production was "The Pallbearer," a role he landed while still starring in “Friends.” He has appeared in lists of big- and small-screen productions since then, including "Little Death" (2024), "The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story" (2016), and "Goosebumps" (2025).
During "Friends: The Reunion" (2021), Schwimmer and Aniston admitted they were sweet on each other early during filming. He shares a daughter with Zoe Buckman, a British artist, and keeps his personal life relatively private.
Jennifer Aniston as Rachel Green
Jennifer Aniston portrayed Rachel Green, a fashion enthusiast. She is besties with Monica Geller, Ross's sister, and is involved in an on-again-off-again relationship with Ross throughout the show.
After her big break from the show, Aniston went on to star in several big and small screen productions. You might have seen her in "Horrible Bosses" (2014), "We're the Millers" (2013), "Murder Mystery" (2019), and "The Morning Show" (2019-2025).
On the relationship front, she had a highly publicized relationship with Brad Pitt, who appeared on the show as Will Colbert. He was portrayed as Rachel's old high school mate, and Ross's friend, who absolutely despises Rachel. They got married in July 2000 and divorced in January 2005.
Courteney Cox as Monica Geller
Monica Geller is a chef, Ross's sister, and Rachel's best friend. She is obsessive-compulsive about cleanliness and competitive. She is roommates with Rachel until she starts dating Chandler Bing (Matthew), her next-door neighbor and Ross's friend.
Monica and Chandler's love story is heartwarming, and their challenges with conception make them endearing to viewers. Off-screen, she shares a daughter with David Arquette, and Aniston is her daughter's godmother.
Like the rest of the cast members, Cox's star shone brighter after appearing on the show. She stars in the "Scream" film franchise as Gale, and you might have also seen her in "Cougar Town" (2009-2015) and "Shining Vale" (2022-2023).
Matt LeBlanc as Joey Tribbiani
Joseph Francis Tribbiani Jr. portrayed a struggling actor trying to make it in the Big Apple. He is part of the titular group of "friends" who always hang out at "Central Perk" and get into several misadventures together.
Once "Friends" wrapped up, LeBlanc headlined "Joey," a spin-off that aired on NBC for two seasons. You might have also seen him in "Man with a Plan" (2016-2020).
LeBlanc's hair began graying during the second season of "Friends," and he kept dyeing it black throughout the show's run. Once "Joey" wrapped, he stopped dyeing and embraced the gray look.
Matthew Perry as Chandler Muriel Bing
Chandler Bing is best friends with Ross Geller, his college roommate, and Joey Tribbiani, his current roommate. He has a sarcastic sense of humor, and we credit Chandler Bing for spawning several "Friends" show quotes.
Chandler overcomes his commitment issues and eventually marries Monica. They adopt twins and move to the suburbs. "Friends" also served as a springboard for Perry's career, and he also starred in "The Whole Nine Yards," "17 Again," and "Mr. Sunshine."
Sadly, Perry passed away on October 28th, 2025. It was due to an accidental drowning at his Los Angeles home.
Lisa Kudrow as Phoebe Buffay
Phoebe is introduced as Monica's roommate at the start of the show. She is an acoustic guitarist with a quirky personality. She has a twin sister with whom she doesn't get along with.
Kudrow's star shot exponentially after appearing in "Friends." She has since appeared in "Web Therapy" (2010-2022), "Time Bandits" (2024), and "No Good Deed" (2024).
Kudrow is married to Michael Stern, and they have a son. The show's writers penned her pregnancy into the fourth season, when she was a surrogate for her half-brother's triplets.
